The Arctic Music Conference and Arctic Music Awards (AMCAMA) are designed to establish the Arctic as a music destination and creative hub, aiming to create prosperity, hope, and joy for those in the region. The Iqaluit-based record label and social enterprise, Hitmakerz will organize the events.

The Arctic is often overlooked and deserves more prominent representation in the international music industry. To address this, the Arctic Music Conference and Arctic Music Awards aimed to strengthen ties between Arctic nations, artists, music industry stakeholders, professionals from all creative and cultural industries, and allies, patrons, and supporters worldwide. The events provided inspiration, knowledge, and synergetic economic and cultural growth opportunities.

We were lucky to host the Arctic Music Conference and Awards virtually this year to celebrate the incredible talent that comes from the North and recognize the artists who have inspired us with their remarkable music. Susan Aglukark gave an incredible keynote speech, and we had an unforgettable weekend of performances from Twin Flames, Beatrice Deer, Tarrak x Peand-eL, Uyarakq, Jacob Okatsiak, and Aasiva!

During the Arctic Music Conference, we had many great workshops ranging from 60 Things to Post on Social Media with Eric Alper, Fundraising for Music Projects presented by Nunavut Music - Thor Simonsen, Entertainment Law for Artists with Edwards Creative Law (Byron Pascoe), Songwriting with Anna Fauske, Performance and Stage Presence with K.ÓLA, and Music Distribution and Marketing with CD Baby (Darryl Hurs, Kevin Breuner & Chris Robley).

In addition, we hosted three informative and engaging panels on Language, Culture, and Global Export, Overcoming the Arctic’s Barriers to Entry, and Impact of Climate Change on Northern & Remote Artists.

At the Arctic Music Awards, we presented six awards in six categories: Artist of the Year, Group of the Year, Indigenous Artist/Group of the Year, Single of the Year, Album of the Year, and Music Video of the Year.

Congratulations to all of the winners of the 2023 Arctic Music Awards! Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate these awards with us!

We hope to have this happen again, but in person next time! We hope to see you guys next year!
