Jo Ellen Pameolik

Jo Ellen Pameolik is a singer songwriter, seamstress, and mother from Arviat, Nunavut. For many years, she has been writing and performing original, Inuktitut music. Taking some time off to raise 4 wonderful children, Jo Ellen continues to create music. She released her debut album in 2004, and her sophomore album, Pink Sky, was released April 2024.

Jo Ellen has been working alongside Grammy Award-winning music producer Chris Birkett, whose previous work includes Sinéad O'Connor, Sting, Quincy Jones, Peter Gabriel, and many other global superstars.

In addition to working a full-time job and creating music, Jo Ellen is also a very talented seamstress. She often helps those in her community with any of their seamstress needs and has experience instructing sewing courses as well.

Jo Ellen’s mom, Mary K. Pameolik, encouraged Jo Ellen to share her voice and passed down everything she knew about singing and performing to her daughter.

Between 1999 and 2003, Jo Ellen performed at many music festivals with vocal partner, Jane Autut.

Jo Ellen has performed at multiple Alianait events and won first place in the 2019 Qilaut Songwriting contest. This inspired her to pursue music as a full-time career.

Jo Ellen is passionate about promoting her Inuit language and culture and wants to inspire young people to reach for their dreams.
