Legacy
Kobe Aknavigak – also known as “Legacy” – was raised in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut. As his stage name suggests, Kobe’s goal is to become a positive role model by creating music that becomes a cultural heirloom for Inuit. To do this, he has been honing his skills as a rapper, singer, songwriter, producer, and performer. Considered by some to be “the Kendrick Lamar of Nunavut”, Kobe’s songs address many of the socio-economic issues that he and other Inuit experience on a daily basis. In ten years, Kobe’s vision is to become a full time artist, see his music topping the Billboard Hot 100, and put Nunavut music “on the map”.
