About the Program
Hitmakerz is happy to announce a new series of in-person music production & mixing workshops.
During this full-day program, participants receive guidance from award-winning music producers, Dale Penner and Thor Simonsen, as well as presenters. They will then work in a series of small groups in order to create and enhance their productions and learn how to make a living as a professional music producer and/or mixing engineer. At the end of the day, songs are showcased for the entire group of participants and feedback will be presented. By the end of the program, attendees will have the knowledge they need to create, mix, master, and monetize their work.

Housekeeping Items
The event will be hosted in Ottawa. The address – which will be sent to participants ahead of the event – is easily accessible by public transportation and has ample parking space available.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided, as well as coffee, tea, and snacks.
Attendees should bring their own recording equipment, as well as something to write with (paper/pen, iPad, etc.).
All attendees must have at least 2 years of music production experience.

The instruction will be in English.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, all participants must be able to provide proof of both Covid-19 vaccinations 2 weeks prior to the event.

Instructor Bios
Dale Penner

Dale Penner is an award-winning producer, engineer, and mixer based in Winnipeg, Canada. Countless artists have benefited from Penner's production and engineering work, including; Nickelback, The Matthew Good Band, Econoline Crush, and many others. Dale is the driving force behind Paradise Alley Productions, and his music has sold over 13 million copies, gone certified platinum and gold, and been on the Billboard Top Ten. Dale has over 30 years of music industry experience, and his work has received numerous awards and Juno nominations. He was named Producer of the Year at the Western Canada’s Music Awards (twice) as well as the Gospel Music Awards. Thor Simonsen

Thor Simonsen is a Danish-Canadian artist and entrepreneur. Originally from the Faroe Islands (Denmark), Thor spent his childhood and teenage years in Iqaluit, Nunavut, before completing his BA in Interactive Design from the Danish School of Media in Copenhagen. An accomplished artist and music producer, Thor has released two solo albums and produced many more for other artists, including Aasiva, Angela Amarualik, Ajungi, Joey Nowyuk, Shauna Seeteenak, the late Kelly Fraser, and many others. His music has won (and been nominated for) many awards, including Juno Awards, Planet Awards, and Indigenous Music Awards.
