Robin Cisek
Indigenous Super Stars’ Canada 2022, Best Emerging Artist, Robin Cisek is a Metis artist from the Edmonton area who creates melodic electro-pop with an alternative flair. Robin Cisek emerged into her music career after years of struggles with health problems.
Although Robin Cisek is relatively new to the music scene, only starting her career in 2019, Robin is seen as a mentor and role model and uses her Bachelor of Education and talents in art and design to mentor and teach artists to be creative and business savvy. Robin has always sought out knowledge about the music industry and started her career in music after completing a mentorship program with artist development specialist and producer, Alex Houton in NYC. Vel Omazic, Co-Founder & Executive Director, Canada's Music Incubator, has complimented Robin on her dedication and hard work in the music industry calling her a “Life-timer” implying her attitude and hard work would allow her to find a career in the music industry in some form. One of Robin Cisek’s goals is to create a supportive community free of gate-keeping and break down barriers for artists. Robin is one of the founding members of a local Edmonton artist collective that aims to help artists create, collaborate and further their careers. This group of artists runs mixers, free events and large-scale shows which promote and connect the arts community. Cisek has designed content, images, posters and music videos for her own music releases as well as growing her own social media network of a combined 46,000 followers. Robin has worked with Hitmakerz to be one of their Marketing and Branding mentors to assist their artists in taking the next step and has informed businesses on a diversity panel for IndieWeek.
Robin Cisek created and released her first two commercial singles. The song "Waiting on You" (2018) was mixed by 6X Grammy Award-winning engineer/producer, Brian Vibberts and went on to claim the #1 spot on the Indigenous Music Countdown in May of 2019. The song remained in the top 40 for 24 weeks consecutively.
Her single, “Zeus” (June 2022) has created a buzz in music blogs and has been published in more than 21 different articles with raving positive reviews. The song also charted at number two on the Indigenous Music Countdown (August 2022) and was nominated for “Best Vocal Category” in the Unsigned Only Music Competition 2022.
With her Freshman album, Delicate Minds 2021, Robin Cisek created a cohesive project consisting of six songs that discuss the emotional aspects of mental health. The music from the album and accompanying interviews with Cisek has been published online in many music blogs and publications such as Canadian Beats, Music Insider Global, Buzz Music and more.
After the release of her album, Cisek’s career has been on an upward momentum. “Memories”, a song from the album, received an Award of Merit from the INDIEFest Film Awards 2022 and was awarded Best Music Video in the Edmonton Short Film Awards 2022.
In 2022, Cisek was chosen as one of CBC and Toyota Searchlight‘s (2022) top 100. Cisek was also selected as one of seven Indigenous artists in Canada to participate in the APTN, RBCxMusic Indigenous Music Accelerator 2021 as well as one of 10 artists to participate in the Indigenous Women in Music residency Manitoba Music.
At the end of 2021, she was named the winner of the Ctribe Music Verse competition (October 2021) and chosen as an Alberta Foundation for the Arts featured artist (September 2021).
