Self-titled debut includes 9 original Inuktitut rock tracks, now available online for the first time.
Arviat, Nunavut – July 25, 2025
Award-winning Inuk artist Agaaqtoq (also known as Abraham Eetak) is bringing his groundbreaking 2014 debut album Agaaqtoq to a global audience — for the first time ever on all major streaming platforms.
Originally released as a physical-only album in 2014, Agaaqtoq is a bold and genre-blending collection of nine original songs in Inuktitut, weaving together rock, blues, salsa, and soaring guitar riffs with emotionally resonant lyrics.
The album, which was produced by Chris Coleman, was made possible with support from the Government of Nunavut, Alianait Arts Festival, Canadian North, CD Baby, Nuvu Music, and Hitmakerz.
A music video for the album’s single, Inuugiaqarama, was recently released, and reached over 100,000 views in the first few weeks. The music video was produced by the legendary Inuktitut rapper, Hyper-T.
Among the standout tracks is “You and I,” a heartfelt collaboration featuring the late Kelly Fraser, whose legacy continues to inspire Inuit and Indigenous artists across the country.
“I made this album to express what was in my heart — love, struggle, joy, and the strength of our culture,” says Agaaqtoq. “It’s been a long time and fans have been waiting. It feels like the right time to share it with the world.”
Agaaqtoq has been touring consistently across Nunavut and Nunavik since 2014 and is currently on a six-stop summer tour throughout the North, connecting with communities and sharing his unique sound and story.
In addition to music, Agaaqtoq is also a highly acclaimed jewelry artist, known for his handmade earrings and brooches sold in Nunavut and internationally. He is also a winner of the Qilaut songwriting contest and is recognized for pioneering the use of AI in Inuktitut songwriting with his 2023 track Gitaralauq Sulusiaq.
With this long-awaited digital release, Agaaqtoq invites new listeners into his world — where tradition meets innovation, and every note carries the spirit of the North.
The album Agaaqtoq is now available on all major streaming platforms.
