Looee Releases Powerful New Album of Healing Songs in Inuktitut
Saimanirnut features 10 original tracks written to support Inuit going through tough times.
Iqaluit, Nunavut – July 16, 2025
Award-winning Inuktitut singer-songwriter Looee Arreak returns with her most personal and powerful work to date: Saimanirnut —a 10-track album of healing songs designed to comfort and uplift Inuit facing hardship.
Produced by Hitmakerz and distributed by CD Baby, Saimanirnut blends Looee’s soulful vocals with rich instrumentation, traditional inspiration, and a heartfelt message of resilience.
The project was Executive Produced by Thor Simonsen and took over two years to complete, with several delays making the finished album all the more meaningful.
“This album is for anyone who feels overwhelmed, isolated, or uncertain,” says Looee. “These songs are prayers of peace. They remind us that we are never alone.”
Track titles include “Guutiga Piujualuk,” “Aqqutiup isuanuuliruma,” and the title track “Saimanirnut,” with each song offering listeners a gentle, emotional journey through grief, hope, and healing.
Looee, originally from Pangnirtung and now based in Iqaluit, is known for her award-winning performances and deep commitment to preserving and celebrating Inuit culture.
Her voice has been featured in major national projects such as Messiah/Complex with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Against the Grain Theatre, which earned a JUNO nomination.
With Saimanirnut, she continues to carve a path for Inuit music that is both contemporary and deeply rooted in tradition.
The album is now available on all major streaming platforms.
