Arviat Singer Returns with Powerful New Album

Agaaqtoq 2 features original Inuktitut songs, with the first single, Run Free, dropping May 2 on all streaming platforms.

Abe “Agaaqtoq” Eetak, the celebrated Inuk singer-songwriter and multi-talented artist from Arviat, Nunavut, is back with his long-anticipated sophomore album, Agaaqtoq 2.

Written, performed, and released independently, the album has been in development for over a year and showcases Agaaqtoq’s signature blend of rock, blues, and Inuktitut storytelling.

The first single, Run Free, will be released globally on May 2, 2025, across all major streaming platforms. Additional singles—and potentially music videos—will follow in the coming months. Physical CDs are already available for purchase directly from the artist at $30 (with shipping costs to Nunavut included).

Produced by Chris Coleman, the 10-track album captures the raw emotion, power, and craftsmanship that Agaaqtoq’s fans have come to love.

“This album is a journey,” says Agaaqtoq. “Each song is a piece of me—written from the land, from the heart, and for my kids.” The full digital release is planned for late summer 2025, supporting a staggered rollout of singles and building anticipation throughout the season.

In addition to being a powerful performer, Abe Eetak is also an accomplished hunter, jewelry maker, and proud father of six. In 2022, he made history by releasing the worlds first AI-written song in Inuktitut. He has toured extensively across Nunavut, performing in communities throughout the territory and building a loyal fan base.
